COVID-19 Announcement Mar-19-2019 ENGLISH

Montreal City West Baptist Church

Special Announcement – March 19, 2020

In view of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country and the sharp rise of confirmed cases, MCWBC has decided to implement a series of preventive measures in response to the Canadian and Quebec government to work together to slow the deterioration of the pandemic. With this, we are fulfilling God’s call to love our neighbors, to protect our congregation from the risk of contamination, and to attend to our civil responsibility. We will continue to shepherd each other with wisdom and in creative ways, fixing our eyes on the unchanging sovereign God Himself.

In these moments, may brothers and sisters trust in God, reach out to one another through phone calls and online platforms, generously help those in needs, and pray for the sick and affected people. May God’s grace and mercy flow through all nations, so that the pandemic will calm down as soon as possible.

Other Church Events:

Effective Friday March 20th, all events held at church will be suspended until further notice.

Fellowships and small groups are encouraged to make good use of the online platform to continue to meet, and to support each other by phone and other safe and creative ways.

Prayer meeting will continue online on Tuesdays at 7:30pm. Please contact Pastor Karen ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for further information. We highly encourage brothers and sisters to pray together in groups; for yourself, the church, the city, and the world.

During this challenging time, it is important for God’s people to gather in a small group to support and encourage one another. Exercise caution. Seek creative ways to meet (e.g. online platform). Learn to worship and pray. Continue with your Bible studies. Connect with your pastors and fellowship leaders. Giving is part of worship, you can continue to support and fuel our ministry by giving by mail or bringing your offering to church when worship resumes in the future. Thank you for being a good steward and cheerful giver.

In this difficult period, the vision and mission of the church remains unchanged. Let us fix our attention on our victorious Lord Jesus and use different ways to express ourselves as the Church. Besides washing hands often as a precautionary measures, take courage to be salt and light for the Lord. Scripture tells us “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Tim. 1:7) We do not change our behavior out of fear. Instead, as a counter-gesture against fear, we love – “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” (1 John 4:18). We make decisions out of LOVE not fear. We follow Jesus’ example to love our neighbors and to care for those around us, who may be more vulnerable. Perhaps it's a good opportunity for us to reflect on our relationship with Jesus, re-prioritize our lives, and live as a true disciple of Jesus.

Online Worship Friendly Reminder (Copied from MCAC):

Let us worship online in the same manner as if you are physically at church. Wear proper attire, well prepare ourselves, and worship our Heavenly Father, our God, in spirit and in truth. I would encourage you to do the technical setup (computer, TV, phone) 10 minutes ahead, and wait silently for the worship service to begin.

The worship proceedings are the same as usual.

The offering has two options: (1) Donate by regular means: put cash or signed cheque into an envelope, specify the amounts and designation. When service resumes, transfer the information and content onto the church's offering envelope. (2) Mail your offering to our church: specify your name, offering number and the amount. Please prepare this before worship begins.

Online worship is new to us. There will be a lot of adjustments to familiarize ourselves. Please remember to place this in your prayers, brothers and sisters, and for God's guidance. May God bless each one of us!

In Christ,

MCWBC Pastoral and Deacons Team
